TRADING ASSETS
Securities held by a company for reselling, which are recorded as a separate account from the investment portfolio. Trading assets include foreign exchange rate contracts, interest rate contracts, mortgage-backed securities, and US Treasury. It also includes positions acquired to be sold again to generate profit from short-term price movements.
