THOMAS MALTHUS
British philosopher and economist in the 18th century known for his concepts on population growth. His 1798 book, An Essay on the Principle of Population, outlined his theories stating increases in populations would continue until it is stopped or reversed by any occurrence such as calamity, disease, famine, or war. He also developed the Malthusian growth model, an exponential formula used in predicting population growth.
