TEQUILA EFFECT
Colloquial term for the impact of the Mexican economic crisis on the South American economy in 1994. The Mexican peso suddenly devalued, causing other currencies in the region to drop. The declining peso was propped up by $50 billion loan granted by former US President Bill Clinton. Also called Mexican Shock.
