SWISS NATIONAL BANK
Independent central bank responsible for Switzerland’s monetary policy and issuing Swiss franc banknotes. Cantons (states) and state-owned banks holds some 55% of SNB’s shares while the rest of the stocks are traded on the Swiss Stock Exchange (SWX). The central bank is responsible for ensuring price stability, and sufficient cash supply in the country and the money market in case of emergency.
