STOCK MARKET CRASH OF 1929

Severe downturn in equity prices in the United States in October 1929, marking the end of Roaring Twenties. The crash did not take place in one day, but lasted for more than two weeks starting in mid-October. The first part of the crash happened on October 24, a day called Black Thursday. Then on October 28 (Black Monday) and October 29 (Black Tuesday), the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) dropped to more than 20%. Despite few recuperation attempts, the stock market continued to decline, falling almost 90% from its high in 1929.
