SMITHSONIAN AGREEMENT
The Smithsonian Agreement is the agreement that re-established an international system of fixed rates excluding the backing of gold or silver. It was established in 1971 and agreed upon by ten countries to end the Bretton Woods Agreement exchange rate system. The Smithsonian Agreement enabled the devaluation of the US dollar.
