SERIES I BOND

Series I Bond is a US government savings bond that is non-marketable and interest bearing. Series HH bonds earn a combination of a fixed interest rate and a variable inflation rate that is adjusted semi-annually. The purpose of Series I bonds is to provide investors with returns and protection on their purchasing power. Series I bonds’ interest are exempted from state and local taxes. It is not exempt from federal taxes. Majority of Series I bonds are electronically issued, however, they may also be transacted in paper certificates that have a minimum of $50 with the use of your income tax refund.
