Securities And Exchange Commission (SEC) is a commission under the government. SEC was created by the Congress for the regulation of the securities markets and the protection of market participants namely the investors and traders. The SEC was also established for the monitoring of corporations and their activities mainly in the US such as takeovers, mergers, and acquisitions, etc. The SEC is divided among five commissioners that the US President appoints subject for the approval of the Senate. The SEC’s supervised statuses are made for the promotion of full public disclosure and protection of market participants from fraudulent activities and misrepresentation in the securities market. The bulk of securities offered in interstate commerce is registered with SEC.
