MEMBER

  1. A brokerage firm or broker who is part of an organized securities or commodities exchange. Membership is necessary in order to place trades for clients in the exchange.
  2. One of more than 1,300 individuals or companies who own a seat in New York Stock Exchange.
  3. Any broker or dealer who is part of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD).
  4. Shareholder or stockholder in a company. Members who join a company at its foundation are called founding members.
