MAINSTREAM ECONOMICS
A term used to denote schools of economic thought that is considered orthodox. Originated in the late 1990s, it described theories often considered part of the neoclassical economics tradition. It follows a rational choice theory that assumes individuals are rational in decision-making in order to maximize their own utility. It also applies statistics and mathematical models to exhibit theories and evaluate several economic developments.
