KENNETH I. CHENAULT
He is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer American Express, a global services, payments, and travel company. He is the third African-American CEO of a Fortune 500 firm. He joined the company in 1981 as Director of Strategic Planning and held several key managerial positions in the company. He became the Chief Operating Officer in 1997, and Chair and CEO in 2001. His notable contribution to the company was he helped in boosting the company’s market share by expanding its customer base.
Before working for the company, he first worked in Rogers & Wells as an associate and in Bain & Company as a consultant.
