JOINT AND SEVERAL LIABILITY

An obligation of multiple parties to be liable for the same act or event and be responsible for all the restitution required. In joint and several liability, an individual who was harmed or wronged by many parties could be rendered damages and collect from anyone, several, or all of the responsible parties. The liable parties are obligated to settle the entire damage award, which could be divided among multiple parties or come from one party. Each party would be liable for part or all of the damages.
