Strategy of choosing globally-based investment instruments to be included in an investment portfolio. It encompasses investment vehicles such as exchange-traded funds (ETFs), American Depository Receipts, mutual funds or direct investments in international markets. Oftentimes, individuals invest internationally for diversification by scattering the perils among foreign companies and markets, as well as for growth by taking advantage of emerging markets.
