INITIAL PRODUCTION
Measurement of the amount of oil produced at the outset. It will be relatively small but will increase eventually to its peak capacity but over time, will decrease. Eventually, the oil well will fail or the output will decline, making the enterprise unprofitable. This is gauged in B/D (barrels of oil per day) or BOE/D (barrels of oil equivalent per day).
