INCHOATE INTEREST
Interests, generally real estate property interests, that are not certain to vest. Normally, this interest is dependent on an occurrence that triggers that interest such as a relative’s death. The interest that the inheriting relative has in the patrimony is inchoate until the time of death, at which point it becomes a real interest.
