ICELAND STOCK EXCHANGE – ICEX

Stock exchange situated in Reykjavik, Iceland. Formed in 1985, ICEX was a joint venture of several Iceland's brokerage firms and banks, on the initiative of the country’s central bank. Trading started in Icelandic T-bonds in 1986; housing bonds and mortgage-backed securities with a State guaranty were included in 1990. ICEX’s first equities were listed in 1990 also. And in 1992, it begun gaining momentum, with an average of six new listing each year.
