GROSS ESTATE
Total value of all property and assets before deducting debts and taxes at the time of an individual’s death. When an individual passes away, the executor or executress of the estate evaluates the assets of the deceased including real property, bonds, stocks, other investment, and personal property. This is usually produced for federal income tax, and is the figure from which liabilities will be subtracted to get the net estate value.
