GOODWILL
Intangible asset that occur for acquiring one firm by another for a premium value. The value of a firm’s brand name, good customer relations, solid customer base, patents or proprietary technology, and good employee relations represent goodwill. It is not a physical asset such as buildings or equipment and it also gives a competitive advantage. Goodwill account appears in the firm’s balance sheet.
