GOLD CERTIFICATE
Physical document that looks like a paper bank note, which entitles the certificate holder to a certain amount of gold. Gold certificates facilitated the ownership and use of gold since gold bullion is hard to store and transfer. This was once widely circulated and used as a legal tender from 1882 to 1933.
