ETF SPONSOR

Company or financial administrator which creates and regulates an exchange-traded fund (ETF). The sponsor will create the underlying index in which the ETF will be managed. Then, the selected securities for the fund will be delivered to the ETF by several institutional investors. In exchange, investors will receive creation units, huge blocks of ETF shares, 100,000 or more. The holders of the creation units will market individual ETF shares to retail traders through the open market or stock exchanges. Normally, the fund sponsor will trade only with the creation units and institutional shareholders, and won’t deal the shares directly with retail investors.
