ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY - EOR

Process of obtaining stranded oil not recouped from an oil reservoir through some extraction processes. It employs techniques such as thermal recovery, chemical injection, gas injection, and low-salinity water flooding. The development and production of oil reservoirs goes through the following states: primary, secondary, and tertiary or enhanced recovery. Even though these methods are costly and not always efficient, scientists are specifically interested in its potential to elevate domestic oil production. Also called tertiary recovery.
