ECONOMIC RECOVERY TAX ACT OF 1981 - ERTA
Federal law which reduced tax rates and allowed for expensing of declining assets. It also encompassed many incentives for small business and for saving. Signed in 1981, the law also provided automatic adjustment of tax brackets, as well as indexing for inflation because it increased nominal income and glided taxpayers into higher and higher tax brackets.
