DOUBLE ENTRY
Fundamental concept encompassing present-day bookkeeping and accounting. It is based on the fact each financial transaction has equal and opposite outcomes in at least two separate accounts. This is used to fulfill the equation Assets = Liabilities + Equity where every entry is recorded in order to retain the relationship.
