CURRENCY CONVERTIBILITY
Ability to convert a country’s currency into gold or other currency. Particularly significant for international commerce, governments without huge reserves of hard foreign currency reserves limit its currency convertibility. When a currency cannot be exchanged, it poses a risk and barrier to trade with foreign traders who need no domestic currency.
