Reserves of unrefined petroleum gauged using barrels. Oil producers use these stockpiles to balance the impact of changes in supply and demand. OPEC’s decisions, events, and tax policy changes affect inventory levels. Inventory levels influence oil price. The higher the inventory level, the lower the oil price.
