CHARGEABLE GAIN
British term for appreciation in an asset’s value between the time it is purchased and sold, making it subject to capital gains tax. This can be frequently offset by chargeable losses. UK taxpayers can reduce chargeable gains by accounting inflation called indexation allowance.
