CARRYING VALUE
Accounting gauge of value, in which the asset value or a firm’s value is based on the data seen in its balance sheet. For assets, it is based on the original cost of the asset sans any amortization, depreciation, or impairment costs. For companies, it is the firm’s total assets minus intangible assets and liabilities. Also called book value.
