BRAD ANDERSON

Former Chief Executive Officer, President, and Vice Chairman of Best Buy, a consumer electronics retailer. Formerly called Sound of Music, he joined the company in 1973. During his tenure, he preached the customer-centricity philosophy, developed by Columbia Business School professor Larry Selden, dividing customers into two: profitable and profitable. He catered to profitable ones by designing every store location to a certain demographic. Also, he helped the firm expand overseas and changed its focus from selling electronics to fulfilling customer need relative to electronics. He doubled the company’s revenue and escalated its profits by an average of 17% annually.
