ASIAN FINANCIAL CRISIS

It was a series of devaluation of Asian currencies and other economic events in Asian markets that started in 1997 during summer time and was dubbed as the Asian Contagion. The first failure in currency market happened in Thailand when the government decided to no longer peg its national currency to US Dollar. As a result, currency declined and spread through South East Asian Currency market causing decline in stock market, import revenues reduction and upheaval of the government.
