AKIO MIMURA

A former president and chairman of Nippon Steel Corp. In 1963 (when the company was still named as Fuji Iron & Steel), Mimura entered the company as the early age of 22 right after finishing college. He became chairman in 2003 and later on served as its chairman in 2008. He was the first chief executive of the company to meet foreign investors outside Japan. Aside from that, he also assumed leadership roles on major steel organizations like the World Steel Association and the Japan Iron and Steel Federation.
