TECH BUBBLE
Period of pronounced and unsustainable market proliferation due to increased speculation in technology stocks. The bubble is described by rapid share price growth and high estimations according to standard metrics including price/sales or price/earnings ratio. Technology shares in this period may be grouped into a specific industry or cover the overall sector of technology based on the investor demand. At the height of the bubble, many tech firms will endeavor to go public through the initial public offerings (IPOs) to capitalize on greater investor demand.
