SUBSCRIPTION RIGHT
Right of current shareholders to maintain an equal percentage ownership of a company by purchasing new stock issuances at or below market prices. Normally, these are enforced through rights offerings, allowing shareholders to exchange rights for shares of common stock at a price lower than its current trading price. Also called preemptive right or subscription privilege.
