NRSRO
A formal term to define credit rating agencies which provide credit ratings which the government used in several regulatory areas. Ratings provided are used often by investors, and used as standards by state and federal agencies. To be an NRSRO, the agency has to be "nationally recognized" in the United States and give trustworthy and credible ratings.
