MINIMUM DOWN PAYMENT
Initial cash contribution to be made by a borrower in order to continue securing a mortgage loan. It varies in every loan program and from lender to another.
Normally, a minimum down payment of 20% of the total loan balance is required to qualify for a loan without the need to pay private mortgage insurance.
