IN THE TANK
Slang term pertaining to very poor performance, which is frequently used when prices of a sector, security, or market performed very poorly or way below expectations. A sector, security, or market is said to ‘be tanking’ when it is on its way down. If an investor said his investments are in the tank, it means his instruments are not doing well or the positions are declining.
