Trade deal in which the exporter renders the task of collecting payment for products supplied to his bank, carrying the shipping documents to the importer’s bank along with payment orders. The importer pays the exporter in turn for shipping documents, together with funds and documents delivered through their respective banks. Although it is less expensive than letters of credit and less complicated, this is riskier for exporters since it has no verification process and limited recourse should the importer fail to pay. This is recommendable to the exporter and importer with a long-standing trade relationship.
